Now Hiring!

Lead Carpenter – Full-Time Position in Utah County

Remodelaholic Inc. is hiring a full-time Lead Carpenter to join our remodeling and outdoor construction team in Utah County, Utah.

We are looking for an experienced carpenter who can work independently, solve problems in the field, and take ownership of a project or assigned scope of work.

This is not an entry-level construction position. We need someone who understands how things are built, can evaluate an existing condition, determine how to make a proper repair, and complete quality work without needing constant supervision.

What You’ll Be Working On

Our projects vary, but much of our work includes:

  • Building decks and deck additions
  • Deck repairs and structural repairs
  • Pergolas and outdoor structures
  • Wood framing
  • Basement framing
  • New interior wall framing
  • Hanging drywall
  • Doors, trim, baseboards, and finish carpentry
  • Remodeling and renovation projects
  • Repairing existing construction
  • Solving unique construction problems in existing homes

One week you may be framing a pergola or rebuilding part of a deck, and the next you may be framing walls in a basement or completing repairs inside a home.

We are looking for someone who enjoys that variety.

The Person We’re Looking For

The right person should be able to arrive at a project, understand what needs to be accomplished, and move the job forward.

You should be comfortable looking at an existing deck, wall, structure, or damaged area and figuring out the best way to repair or rebuild it.

We want someone who takes pride in doing things correctly and isn’t satisfied with simply making something “good enough.”

Ideal Skills and Experience

Experience with several of the following is preferred but not required:

  • Residential carpentry
  • Deck construction
  • Deck repair
  • Pergola construction
  • Structural wood framing
  • Basement framing
  • Interior wall framing
  • Drywall installation
  • Door and trim installation
  • Finish carpentry
  • Remodeling
  • Residential repairs and troubleshooting
  • Reading plans and measurements
  • Using common construction tools safely and efficiently

You do not need to know everything, but you need a strong carpentry foundation and the ability to figure things out.

Independence Is Important

We specifically need someone who can work independently.

There will be projects where you may be working by yourself for part or all of the day. You need to be able to organize the work, determine the next steps, communicate when there is a problem, and complete the assigned work professionally.

We’re looking for someone who can be told:

“Here’s what we need to accomplish.”

…and then figure out how to get it done correctly.

Requirements

Applicants should:

  • Have professional carpentry or remodeling experience
  • Be dependable and show up when scheduled
  • Have reliable transportation to job sites throughout Utah County and the Wasatch back.
  • Have a valid driver’s license
  • Be comfortable working independently
  • Be able to communicate clearly with the project manager, homeowners, and other trades
  • Maintain a clean and organized job site
  • Understand job-site safety
  • Be able to lift and carry typical construction materials
  • Be comfortable working outdoors and indoors
  • Be willing to work full-time

A truck or work-capable vehicle is strongly preferred.

Having your own basic carpentry tools is also strongly preferred.

Specialty tools and larger equipment needed for specific projects can be provided by Remodelaholic.

What We Value

We’re building a team of people who can be trusted with our clients’ homes.

That means we value:

Craftsmanship
Do the work correctly and build something you are proud to put your name on.

Problem Solving
Remodeling rarely goes exactly as planned. We need people who can evaluate a situation and find a good solution.

Reliability
If we tell a client we’re going to be there, we need our team to be there.

Communication
If you discover a problem, communicate it before moving forward.

Ownership
Take responsibility for the work you’re completing rather than waiting to be told every individual step.

Respect
Our projects are often in occupied homes. Treat the client’s property like you would want someone to treat your own.
